Have you heard stories about businesses getting COR in record time, while others face delay after delay? 🤔
What you’re noticing is what we see as external auditors too.
Everyone’s timeline will be different. ðŸŽ
COR is a business-wide effort, and while you oversee the application, there are many other moving pieces that need to come together so that you can be successful.
To build your timeline for COR, you’ll need to consider:
➡ Capacity – Do you have enough people helping to coordinate the application? Is the rest of the organization committed to obtaining COR, or does it feel like a fight to get others involved?
➡ Experience – Are you experienced with the COR process? Have you led the coordination of a certification before? Previous experience will help you understand the time that you’ll need to reach each milestone. Keep in mind that COR2020 is a new experience for many people this year, so be conservative in your judgement!
➡ Expectations – Is the owner (and/or management team) aware of what the COR certification process is like? Is anyone expecting to have COR certification in time for a bid that’s expected in the future?
Once you’ve answered these questions, you’re positioned well to start a conversation with someone experienced to determine what your timeline may be.
This could involve reaching out to someone who has led COR certification at another company, reaching out to the person who was previously in your role, or an Ontario COR specialist to guide you before committing to any timelines.
